Lukko

Terms of Service

Last updated: June 5, 2026

By using Lukko you agree to these terms. Lukko turns your files into encrypted containers (.lukko files) and lets you control who can open them and cut off access at any time. We provide the encryption and access-control service — we do not host your files.

What you need to use Lukko

.lukko files can only be opened with the Lukko app for Mac, iPhone, or iPad, which you download from the Apple App Store. You need an Apple device to use Lukko — there is no web, Windows, Android, or third-party way to open a .lukko file. Opening a file also requires an internet connection, because access is checked in real time on every open.

Your responsibilities

Your files are yours. You are responsible for keeping your account secure, for the devices you use, for the files you create, and for who you share them with. Deciding who has access — and granting, revoking, or expiring it — is up to you.

Availability

Lukko is an online service. Because access is checked in real time, files cannot be opened offline. We may update, change, or discontinue parts of the service, and we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

Acceptable use

Do not use Lukko to store or share content that is unlawful, or to infringe the rights of others. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.

No warranty

Lukko is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. We do not host your files and cannot recover files, contents, or access that you have lost, deleted, or revoked. To the extent permitted by law, Lukko is not liable for any loss arising from your use of the service.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the “last updated” date above.
